If you are looking to work in a licensed day care program, group family child care program, out-of-school care program or preschool program you need to be certified.
There are three levels of certification, each with different requirements.
How it works
You can apply using a computer, tablet, or mobile phone.
Create a basic Alberta.ca Account if you don’t already have one.
This is your single, verified online identity for interacting with Government of Alberta online programs and services. To apply for certification, create an account by confirming your email address.
Fill out your online application.
Once logged in with your Alberta.ca Account, you can fill out the online Early Childhood Educator Certification Application online in a secure environment.
Arrange for your official transcripts to be sent.
For Level 2 and Level 3 ECE Certification, you will need to arrange for official transcripts to be sent directly to us from the educational institution so that we can complete the assessment.
